Import from Portugal, changed rules regarding wood packaging material

(October-28-2008)

The Swedish Board of Agriculture requires that all wood packaging material from Portugal is marked in accordance with ISPM 15. They also require that you burn and report unmarked packaging material.

Pinewood nematodes, a serious damager of pine trees, have repeatedly been detected in wood packaging materials from Portugal. The material must therefore be destroyed. You can avoid a lot of extra work and dangers for our forests by demanding that the goods are packed in/on material that has been treated and marked in accordance with the international standard ISPM 15.

Björk.Eklund Group Donates 40 000 HKG $ to Help Sichuan Earthquake Vic

(May-16-2008)

On May 12, 2008, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake rocked China. To help the Sichuan Red Cross with their job in taking care of the aftermaths of the disaster, the Björk.Eklund Group has decided to donate 40 000 HKG $ to the Sichuan Red Cross.

The earthquake, which was focused in China's Sichuan Province, is estimated to have killed at least 19,500 people. In cities near the earthquake's epicenter, thousands have been buried under the collapsed buildings and at least 60,000 people are still missing.

Margit Olausson, CSR manager at Björk.Eklund, says:
- Part of our work with CSR is caring for the world and people around us, to be a responsible corporate citizen. When disasters like this happen it is important that we try to help, and this feels especially meaningful for us since we have offices in China within the group. I know that our contribution will do a lot of good in the Sichuan Province.

The money will be donated to the Sichuan Red Cross through the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in China.
